Jia-Hou Poh

Jia Hou received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and completed his Ph.D. in the Centre for Cognitive Neuroscience (Duke-NUS) and the NUS Graduate School for Integrative Sciences and Engineering. For his Ph.D. work, he studied the effects of sleep deprivation on attention and memory using information-based fMRI analysis approaches. He joined the Adcock Lab in 2018 to study how memory formation is supported by the brain’s reward system.
Jia Hou is interested in understanding how attention and memory are modulated by brain systems related to reward and motivation. For his post-doctoral work, he plans to investigate how the midbrain dopaminergic system interacts with the MTL to integrate and/or pattern separate memory representations. Part of his longer-term goals involves the translation of neuroscience research to better inform policy making in education.
